The "Pamela" style bonnet was popular during the 1790's-1812. It was characterized by an upright crown and brim which was held down on the sides. I've long wanted to try this style and had an opportunity to do so using these unique blanks. The natural fibers have been painted, creating a beautiful white base that is quite stiff and safe from crushing. I knew I wanted to used some beautiful vintage trims I had to create this bonnet, however the stiff nature of the base made sewing the trims on (my usual practice) impractical. For that reason, I chose to use glue to keep it all in place.
The crown features four rows of vintage lace covered ribbon, wide satin ties, and a jaunty side bow. Around the edge of the brim you'll find two rows (inside and out) of yellow and white vintage gathered fabric and lace, and the whole is accented with a jaunty spray of yellow roses.
The brim measures 3" deep and the crown is 3.75" tall; it is 21.5" around.
One size.
