This site was created with women's fashion accessories in mind, however, I now realize the growing difficulty in finding men's clothing from the proper period. I have edeavored to collect sources for acquiring these garments.
The closest thing I have found to
Mr Knightly's straw hat was an
Amishman's hat, from PA. This (the Amish hat) seems to be what the reproduction catalogs are selling as well. Not exact, but pretty close! I paid $8 for mine. They go for about $12 in the catalogs.
The hardest thing to find so far, is authentic coats and jackets. There are patterns available, however, so never fear! You may also like to check out this article by Marc Cassler,

Jas. Townsend and Son, Inc.
My favorite vendors so far have been Jas. Townsend and Son, Inc. They carry a large selection of shirts, britches and breeches, hats, waistcoats, and just about everything else you might need, except period authentic (1800) Dress coats and jackets.
They do have a large pattern section, which includes everything from underwear to coats and cloaks for both men and women. Check out thier website and definitely ask for the free catalog!

A few of my favorite parts of the Jas. Townsend catalog are their selection of accessories
(including glasses, recast pewter buttons and coins, breeches and shoe buckles, watches, and military insignias and gorgets) and their men's shirts. The shirts are reasonably priced (from $29) and can be had in cotton or linen. They look just like Mr Darcy's

Jas. Townsend and Son, Inc. has a very nice website at:
http://www.jastown.com where you can order from their catalog. You can also call and request a catalog sent to your home: 1 (219) 594-5852.
The Bradley Company of the Fox
A fine on-line supplier of reproduction clothing, The Bradley Company of the Fox carries many of the same items as Jas. Townsend. They do have a wider selection of shirts and stocks, but show only line drawings instead of photographs for many of their items. Bradley also carries a few different styles of coats and greatcoats.
The Bradley Company of the Fox is located on-line at
http://www.bradleycompanyofthefox.com and has full ordering capabilities from their site.
